We are delighted to be working with our client, Foreman Homes, on the old Jewson site in Toynbee Road Eastleigh. Our work involves the demolition and site clearance of the old Jewson depot and container storage facility to make way for a new housing development on this brownfield site in central Eastleigh.
Once the existing buildings on the site have been demolished, the two-acre site will enable Foreman Homes to develop 105 affordable homes, parking and public open space off Toynbee Road adjacent to the Romsey to Eastleigh railway line.
The project sits within a busy residential area and HWM Group have deployed a larger team to ensure the work is done quickly and efficiently to reduce the disturbance to nearby properties. Two Kobelco SK300 excavators with demolition attachments to deal with the mixed materials such as steel, wood and concrete are currently demolishing and sorting recyclable waste. MB Dust Cannon, dust suppression has also been brought in to minimise dust and odours becoming a nuisance to nearby residents.
Most of the buildings and storage facilities were constructed of steel frames, covered in wood cladding. Of the waste materials generated and removed from site, 98% of the materials removed will be recycled.
