Eastleigh Rail Works Demolition

Winchester-based company, HWM Group, are delighted to have been involved in initial redevelopment work in the new Solent Freeport area. The demolition and remediation project in the freeport’s Navigator Quarter at Eastleigh Railway Sidings was part of the wider project to create new top quality warehousing, employment space and sustainable business opportunities for the future.

The contract for HWM’s client, ADI Limited, included removal of all asbestos-related materials from 6 buildings and demolishing the buildings to floor slab level followed by the breakout and removal of floor slabs and existing foundations while locating and protecting all existing drainage systems required to remain.  All arisings were crushed for grading and re-use on site (6F2 & Type 1), in line with the sustainability requirements expected today, and all required waste streams were sorted, segregated and removed.

HWM delivered this challenging project on budget and on time, remaining on site to continue with groundworks, site ground investigations and site remediation. Throughout, HWM’s staff were sensitive to the requirement not to inconvenience existing businesses nearby.

HWM Group Director, Chris Lynch, said, “The services we provide all our clients are delivered to the highest standards with an emphasis on sustainability and respecting the environment. Recycling and re-use of materials on site are at the heart of all our work. Hazardous Waste Management’s particular expertise in removal and cleaning of contaminated soil has made us market leaders in the treatment of both hazardous and non-hazardous contaminated soil on site and at our own dedicated specialist facilities”.
